Tooth Extraction
Tooth extraction is a procedure to remove a tooth from the gum socket. It can be performed by a general dentist or an oral surgeon.
During the procedure, the dentist numbs the tooth and surrounding gums with a local anaesthesia, uses a tool to loosen the tooth and then removes the tooth with foreceps. The socket is then cleaned and disinfected. Sutures may also be used, especially after complex extractions or to aid in-wound closure and promote healing in some instances.
